This is my first time working with Micarta, I kind of wanted the handle to have an old style look to it, kind of like an Old Hickory knife that I ones saw that was all beat up and scared.

Nice work. Need to try my hand at it too. Need to grind on my 16, and make some new scales, so it fits my hand.

How is the balance/weight/feel now compared to when it was factory?

Dang, thats quite a transformation! Lets see if I'm catching all the mods

1) Choiled
2) De-Ramped
2) De-Pommeled
3) Custom Scales

and is it slightly patinaed or etched on the flats? Or is that just the way it has aged?
Dang....I bet that is about a perfect woods-knife now! And they are pretty much perfect factory, hard to improve on the 10, but I think you have successfully managed it!

Yup you got the mods right, slight etch on the flat. The balance and feel is perfect right now, the balance point is right in between the choil and the index finger so its blade heavy in the normal grip, and then handle heavy when you choke up and use the choil.

My aim was really to make it more of a bushcraft style knife.

What is the other knife in the picture? Did you make that also?

That is a KFU .

Cool! Gonna start on mine eventually... I wanna sharpen the swedge then etch and patina the finish, then either new scales or tweak the factory linen. Thanks for sharing! :D

Damn that came out sweet, I want to take that 10 and put a mad convex edge on it..........

Looks like a blackbird SK-5 on steroids!

I always like it when people do things rather than patinas and an etch.

Totally changes the dynamic of the knife. Lovin' it! It reminds of an ESEE a little.

Looks awesome. I think you nailed it. I'd be very happy to have a set like that on my cliched BK16.
