so, here's my new becker. i'm new to wrapping handles, but i think it turned out alright. a bit loose at the front end, and i ended up with excess at the back end. i figure i can use the excess for a lanyard, but i've never used lanyards before. they always seem to be more dangly and getting caught on stuff-y than functional. i'm toying with the idea of getting the handle kit, or i might try making my own. and i'm also thinking of stripping it. i'd appreciate some advice here. I don't want to do anything i can't undo, and regret it later. anyway, so far i love it. it's a lot of knife for it's size.

also, this is only my second picture post attempt. please be gentle if it doesn't work....

Congrats Man. I love the 11. Never leave home without mine and have another in the kitchen for daily use.
My EDC one has a lanyard and I don't think I'd carry it without one. And Before I had a becker, I never ever used a lanyard. Now almost all my knives have one.

Making some scales are fun too. The Ka-bar micarta scales are great. If your going to strip it and put scales on, you may want to just strip the blade at first. Water may seep under the scales and rust the tang if your not careful. Same thing with a wrap, the cord might hold water.

And if you are going to strip the whole thing, you might consider etching the logos first with some PCB etchant to make them a little deeper.

Congrats on the new 11!
That cord wrap looks great.
Mine has the factory Ka-bar micarta. I love it. It transforms the knife into something truly great.
I'll second Dex's recommendation about stripping the blade only. Especially if you're putting scales on it.
As far as doing mods on the knife...just go for it! There's really nothing you can "screw up". Unless power tools are involved. :D
Modding Becker knives is part of the fun of owning one.
And it makes it "your knife". You put in the work and the knife becomes special. A sacred bond btween knife and....I'm rambling...
Enjoy your new knife!!!

Heres mine. Stripped blade, micarta, added jimping, and Ethans sig engraved.

stripped and polished, stripes were etched with 5% nitric acid. then soaked it in vinegar, sharpened and oiled and back in my pocket.

i like tiger stripes. i think they're cool.

the owls were in the wash.

Nice. I love the BK-11. Not a day goes by that I don't use one of mine.

And Convince The Wife??????? Are you for real?? haha My advice is to SURPRISE her with it!!! Not much she can do about it then. :D:D:D Besides yell.
And if she's like mine, she will find something to yell about no matter what. lol
