Has the issue with the sheath dulling the blade been resolved or will I have to resort to a custom sheath? Seems to me the problem has been known long enough to have changed the way the blade fits into the sheath but was curious. Any feedback will be helpful!

I just got one. I am conscious about pulling it out while putting a little pressure on the spine. Seems like the edge doesn't contact when i do that

Its my understanding that it has been fixed but it probably depends on how old the stock was at the dealer you used. I am sure someone else with the facts will be along with a definite answer.

I just took delivery of a new BK14 and it was shipped in the new "Master Series' slip covered box. The knife DOES have the new modified sheath design with the clearance slot for the blade edge. I have not had time to do a detailed test of whether or not it actually works. I can tell you that in my tests the old design DID dull the crap out of my NK11 and BK 14 blades after the knife was withdrawn about a half dozen times, especially the rear of the blade. I hope the new tweek fixes the problem.

as above, should have been resolved a while ago... except for old stock, and of course, old sheaths still floating around.

after enough use even the old sheaths broke in a bunch, or could be modified, or swapped out.

MOST people in the real world don't bring their knives to shaving sharpness and examine them under microscopes though :) just us weirdos :>

I'd say the above is key. New Master Series box? Should be new sheath.

Old box? maybe......

covered in dust? maybe not :D

Well, I have purchased 5 other Becker BK11 and BK14 knives in the last 4-5 months. All were 2011 production and were in the Black Boxes . None of them had the new sheath designs until I got the one with the new Master Series Becker slip cover (which is a nice touch ,BTW..)

Well there ya go.... I figured new box = new sheath, but wondered if there was some overlap with old box and new sheath.

Thanks for the confirmation.
