Just got my NIB Becker BK16 TODAY...., and, WOW!!! I can't believe how much I like this knife, and I haven't even used it yet. What should I do first with it to really appreciate it??? Give it a pretty girl's name? Shave a little arm hair? Whittle a spoon? Skin a cat? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. THANKS.

Just use it! Put it to work.
You'll really appreciate it the more you use it.
Great knife! Congrats!

And no... please no pretty girl's name. Lol :D

use it to make dinner.
If dinner includes skinning a cat, you're probably doing it wrong, unless it's a non-domestic/"big" cat.
felis domesticus is bitter and stringy - bleah. (felis concolor or leo pantheris, OTOH = yummy!)

I think if you use it to shave a cat (not skin, shave) you will have an appreciation for the knife like none other.

Put it to use!

If you find it not as slicey as you wish, then strip it. Otherwise, feel free to beat the coating off it over time.

Dinner's a great idea. Or yard work. Or cardboard. Or camping...

you could always make some feathersticks to get a feel for it/her and then square the spine and make fuzzsticks because it is fun? the moral of the story is to have fun and try new things with the 16, There are very very few tasks that it doesn't excel at.

Strip it first. Then come skin this funny looking cat that keeps digging hole in my yard. He is black with a white stripe running down his back. Reminds me a Pepe Le Pew.

Field dress a Yeti. If ... you happen to be going anywhere near say ... Nepal.

Yeti coats are all the rage. :p

Soooo, what did you end up doing with the 16??? If you're still undecided, I'd go with skinning a cat...... I have one to volunteer. :D

Well...., I put the alternative coyote handles on her and named her "Alice". But, I like to call her "THUNDER BRITCHES":D Then, we went trail-riding on my farm to check on things. A vine of unknown origin was making one of my persimmon trees nervous, and Alice was begging to help. So, I turned her loose, and she had the whole area cleared in no-time. She's as sharp as Marilyn Vos Savant and twice as good-looking!!! There aren't as many feral cats around since that Chinese place opened across town, so that might have to wait. But I'll bet she'd do just fine on a big ole blue or flathead.
