Never tried out a BK7 or BK11 before so I figured I'd give them a shot. They showed up today and so far so good. Quick first impressions: Very sharp out of the box. The seven is a lot smaller then the pictures suggest which I actually like. New BK7 sheath is very nice when compared to the old one

Always been a bit skeptical of the BK11 because I can open a bottle cap with my lighter on a table (or with my BK14) and I don't even drink that much beer. The BK11 feels pretty great in my medium sized hands with the optional grips although I still prefer the handles on my BK14. Four finger grip with the BK14 versus a three finger grip with the BK11. Here is a side by side shot below.

I plan to actually use these knives quite a bit. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress and what I decide on the 11. Maybe shave off the thumb ramp on the 7 like I did to my 9. Maybe make some custom grips for the 11.

Next step is to test out the bottle cap opener by buying a case of beer and testing it on no less then 12 bottles. Since I have an 11 now I must try some of this Yuengling you guys are always talking about.

The new sheaths seem to be better across the board. I love that I can attach them to Molle webbing on my backpacks. I just got a new BK14 and the sheath fits tighter than the older ones which seemed to have a bit of rattle. Really perfect now. Great to see the improvement.

I noticed that as well. My BK11 with the new rough coating and the (maybe updated?) sheath click right in tight with no rattle and a secure feel.

Definitely liking the look of the new 11. Hmm, do I really need one when I already have a 14... I'm going to let the idea ripe for a bit^^

The new coating of becker knives are beautiful, unfortunately I think that will not come so soon to my country...:grumpy:

I really like the new coating on the BK7. Think I might leave it for a while until it starts to wear off anyways. Which takes a while as the new black is durable...

Man I really like the way the micarta scales on the BK11.
I like the coating.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm digging the new steel man! Love the laser etching. Really makes for a neat, clean look on the blade.

May I ask where you ordered from? I really like the new coating, very nice.
Congrats.

Congrats.

My guess would be that just about every retailer has the new coatings in stock. I recommend Tomars Ka-Bars though. Good guys there.

Cool, thank you. Ordered my first from Amazon, this one will be Tomars. Thanks :)

So I bought me a BK11 about a month ago and I like it but the handle is a bit to short. It is growing more and more on me. I paracord wrapped the handle.
I made a kydex sheath for mine. The stock sheath tends to dull the blade.
As far as the coating I really like it. I like the way it looks and feels. I know if promotes drag when cutting but that isn't a huge turn off for me.
All in all I am very happy with my buy.

My first becker came in yesterday, the bk9! I love it. Now I just need to get outside to use it. It has the new coating also. Sorry no pics yet though. I got mine from Chestnut ridge.

Chestnut is also a good online source. I buy my Esee's from there.
Once you start using that BK-9 you are going to fall in love. I used mine a bunch and never let me down.
Congrats

Congrats on all the new steel in this thread.

I usually get my knives from Grand Prairie if not the exchange. I got a few from Moosebladez but his li'l business is now defunct. :(
