Hi guys!

Well it finally happened. I've always liked the Becker line, although never owned one. Decided recently that I wanted a dedicated big knife to baton and chop with, so I finally took the plunge and I can't believe I waited this long to pick one of these bad boys up.

Was on a campout last weekend, where the hosts had forgotten to bring along any sort of wood processing tools except for a dull hatchet. Fortunately I had the 9 with me and chopped and split enough to keep the fire going into the wee hours of the morning. Could not be happier with my purchase :triumphant:

Now onto my question. I want to stick a little neck knife in the spare pocket on the 9's sheath, but I am not so sure about the Remora. Wanted to know if anyone here keeps any other knives in that little slot, or if it is molded to fit the Remora only. Not too crazy about 440A and the ergo's look a little on the clumsy side.

Has anyone put the Boker Plus Chad Los Banos Edit knife in there? Ergonomics and steel look much better but not sure if it will fit. Any other alternatives that you know of?

Cheers

Welcome to the addiction. Mine started with the 9, then I got the 2 and let me tell you MAN do I love that thing. Now I have the necker and am currently looking at the 5, 7 and 16.

The 9 is awesome, is it not? the Candiru fits that spot quite nicely.

Ooh I had forgotten all about the Candiru. Great suggestion.

Anyone else have any other suggestions.

Also forgot to mention in my original post. My BK9 came with the sharpest factory edge I have ever encountered bar none! (And I have spent quite a bit of money over the years lol). Definitely on the toothy side but I was very impressed indeed.

Yes, lose the factory sheath; forget About the pocket, its just to wide clumsy and long to be worth it.

Though I have an older model and hear the new sheaths are more form fitting.. I always liked the factory sheath myself but scrapped it last night and love my 9 all the more for it.

I kinda like my Remora, 'specially since that, and the 9 are the only two I have just now.:thumbup:

Please do, go on with your search, however! :D

I want to get a SAK Farmer. Thats a sweet little tool to have on a rig.

Oh, and for the record, I also keep my SAK farmer in the front pouch (as well as a firesteel). With that combo on my belt, I feel fine heading wherever I might need to go.

Good luck with whatever you do :).

I got a kydex sheath for my 9 and carry a Mora companion and a leatherman with me as well. Get a Mora to go with your 9 and you will not be sorry.

Another here with a leatherman in the front pouch of the 9. Leatherman Wave in black. Also throw in a flashlight (streamlight stylus) and a ferro rod or lighter. I think it compliments the 9 very well with its tools. As for the little sheath on the sheath, I have tried different things in there, but honestly I'd rather just have the other stuff in the pouch than anything in that sheath... BUT if I had a remora... you better bet I would rocking it in there LOL

I kept the striker to my fire steel in there just as means of retention in case the steel slipped out; both were lanyarded together

Of course the Remora itself would finish the tableware trio, or just the '9 itself :D
A Leatherman makes a nice campfire pot/pan manipulator.
I really like the idea of having a firesteel/bic and some aluminum foil handy as well... the whole cooking kit in kaboodle. Heck you could loop some cord thru an 11/14/24 sheath and molle it to the back at an angle. the possibilities are endless I say, Endless!

Leave it to Pointy to bring a fork and spoon in his sheath. My question is, why not go Ti spork?
