Back in 1973, I bought my first "real" knife, a Case folding hunter. I carried and used that knife for many years at work. About 5 years ago, I did a really stupid thing and tried to open a floor access door with the main blade. Sure enough, I broke off the tip.

I know that Buck will replace blades and I would like to know if Case offers the same service. I'm pretty attached to that old knife and would like to have it fixed if possible.

Contact Case, they'll probably do it for you, as long as they have blades of the same or similar profile in stock.

Back in 2005, I asked Case to re-blade an old two-blade Hunter I got in a trade back in high-school. Back in the mid-90's, in a moment of particularly bad judgment, I ruined it on a belt sander; I wasn't even sure Case would consider looking at it. They said to send it in, which I did, and long story short, when I got it back I was in shock. It literally looked, felt, and operated as if it were new. The only hitch was they had to use current production, "Tru-Sharp" (stainless) blades, which I didn't mind at all. Total cost in 2005 was $27. Well worth it to get this old workhorse back in action.

It's one of my most prized possessions now.

"in a moment of particularly bad judgment"

I can sure identifiy with that. When I stuck the tip of the knife into the crack to try and lift the access hatch, I actually thought to myself "I'll probably break the blade if I do this".

Thanks for all the info. I'll contact Case Monday about sending it in.

Case has a great service dept. I sent in one with a missing shield, knife was made in the early 80's. They found a shield replaced it and I had it back, shield in place in less than a week. If they have your blade, you will get great service.
