Well, on impulse, I picked up another 110. This one is in fair condition. The scales are very good and the bolsters are shiny and nice (it looks like the bottom has been used as a hammer though). But the blade has been sharpened so much that the tip doesn't close in the handle. There's also the slightest bit of blade play as well.
I'd like to carry this knife or at least use it around the house or out in the woods. So should I considering sending it in for a new blade? I know the custom shop offers some steels other than the 420HC (isn't it?) that they use on the regular production knives. Should I go with a better steel? This knife is a two dot (.110.) knife from the 70s, so would the steel in this blade be superior to the steel they currently use? I've never had a problem with the edge retention of my modern 110s, but I would like to see their higher end steels.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Ben
