New blade question.

I checked around on the EKI website and could not find any info. I was looking on the mobile version so maybe I missed it. But I remember seeing somewhere that I could send a knife in for a new blade.

Long story short....my first REAL knife was a Cqc-7b that my dad gave me in 2000. I carried it for years until one day I was at a knife shop. There was a guy who saw I was carrying an Emerson and offered to sharpen it free of charge. I thought.....what the heck...why not!! They must have had the rookie new guy do it, because when u came back it was mangled.

Ever since then I have had a hard time carrying it.

I cleaned the blade up last year and now I carry it more, but it clearly needs help.

My question is, can I still get a new blade put on? Maybe even a different variation. Like waved and non serrated?

I also would like to keep my old blade just for memories.

Here's a pic of the blade.

You sure can spring out for a new blade, but it looks to me that your blade can still be salvaged. Have you considered sending it to one of the many sharpening experts here?

It's obvious that you know Josh and razors edge, I'd send it to him and have him work his magic. He may even be able to remove the serrations, I know he does some amazing stuff. However, yes you can get a new blade I'm sure, but it will cost, how much I'm not sure. If I were you I'd send it to Josh, have it sharpened/reground and rock it.

You can get a new blade put on for a fee. I believe it's approximately $125-$150 depending on the model in question. If it were me in your situation I would honestly buy a new Enerson and retire that one. I would guess you have a lot of sentimental value attached to that knife considering your dad gave it to you and it was your first real knife. Not to mention the fact that 1999 and 2000 CQC-7's are collectors items. I say retire it, maybe carry it on special occasions, and start fresh with a brand new model so you can keep the memories of the old one intact

As much as I love the work Josh does, he is amazing at it, I do have to much sentimental value with this knife to really use it at all.

I think I am going to do as silvanus said and keep this one as is and pick up another one.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Just placed an order for a brand new CQC-7BW!!

Now the painful wait is on!!
