Fes was lucky to get the Saddlehorn, it nearly went to another home, I bought the Case Ebony Saddle horn because they are such a cool little knife also they are a SFO, one of 250 I think, TB stamping on the rather different Spey....( am I correct that this stamp was to show that Tony Bose had something to do with just the Spey?..or the whole knife? )
I recently bought another Ebony Saddlehorn as I wanted to queen one and use the other, ..but what can I say guys...I can only stand to see a grown man cry for so long so I gave in. :D
Seriously though...Fes can sharpen a blade pretty darn decently, so he took the time to come on up, stay the night and teach me a thing or two about sharpening, and I did promise him a shiny toy if he did so ...I learnt a lot.
I also learnt that the human body can only tolerate so much Bourbon, I just dont feel good today lol.

It was only a rhetorical question, to express that those are two beautiful specimens and ones I would really like to own someday. Its none of my business why or what, that's between you two gentleman. Sorry for my exuberance Fes

Genovich...no need for sorrys my friend especially for exuberance - we need that here!...I always chime in with a comment like that, and its always a pleasure to read what you have to say...I just thought it would be great to read about our deal we had, the SM Muskrat was a gift from me to Fesl.

And I correct you one one thing Genovich... it IS your business what your fellow members get up to :D

Hmmm... I see no fur, fangs, or feathers. I'm not sure either of those knives are yours yet. ;)

Good on both of you.

Hi FES!

Two great knives you have there, congratz my friend!

That ebony on the Case looks really great.

Kind regards
Andi

Lucky strike on the Case Fes...as a friend of mine used to say, holding booze is always an advantage :D
Jokes aside, I'm glad you had a good time over there. I'm not a fan of Bourbon, but as I told Fes, when I'll get to NZ myself, I will definitely join both of you guys :)

Fausto

A generous man you are, Duncan! I hope your hangover is a dim memory!
I had one of those saddlehorns in Redbone, but Ebony is the premier choice IMO.
You are lucky to have such a friend, Fes!

Congrats, FES! Knife sharpening tips are a gift that will keep on giving.

TB stamping on the rather different Spey....( am I correct that this stamp was to show that Tony Bose had something to do with just the Spey?..or the whole knife?

I read that Mr. Bose replaced the pot bellied spey with a skinning blade that he finds more useful and reduced the size of the knife to 3 1/2" closed so that it was easier to carry. I'm not sure of the production number for the ebony but I think 250 also.

Great jigged bone on that Premiere!

Thanks for the comments...Its always great to catch up with a kindred spirit such as Duncan..The Premier is indeed a very lovely knife, the blades are super fine and flexible (1 of 400) with very positive snap..I was also lucky enough to meet a friend of Duncans who is a SERIOUS!! collector..We went to his house and i was truly lost for words (which takes some doing!)..He produced roll after roll of the most beautiful and highly collectible knives i have ever seen ..it may sound weird but i nearly got bored of handling 18th century REAL bowies!!..One of the highlights for me,was i got to handle a REAL 15th century katana with its companion pieces (wazakashi and tanto)..A beautiful weapon and a memory i will take to my grave....Thanks again Duncan......................................FES

Thank you for your kind words Fes and Charlie.
Charlie and I have spoken before about these knives, Ash.... yeah...the Saddlehorn is just beautiful..I have a awesome Lloyd Saddlehorn making its way to me as we type.
Yes stepping into that room of knives is like stepping into a Museum...awesome, just awesome.

edit.
My apologies Fausto, as I was meant to say, it would indeed be a pleasure to meet you my friend, and to spend a little time talking knives with you.
hopefully soon!
