I just went to the local trading post, knowing they had some of the '09 benchmades in. Little did I know that i was gonna be down $120 in a few days. I saw the barrage and had to check it out. The guy handed it to me, i pushed the thumbstud, and CRACK! The sound of a shotgun pump. I had to have it. But, i hadn't the funds, so i had my dad put it on hold (as i am only 16). It is also #963/1000 so i thought that was great. My dad also loved the knife and would have snagged it if i didnt. So what i want to know is if anyone has one or has handled one, what do you think about it? I wasn't leaveing that store without knowing it was mine.;)

I handled one today as well, didn't leave with it because I picked up some other BM goodies (one of the goodies was 931/1000).

Benchmade's been claiming this is the strongest assist on the market and its pretty damn close. Also for all the people who are afraid axis locks are going to close on them if they grip too tight, this one has a secondary lock on the spine.

Only downside, if there is one, to me the handle material feels cheap. But for the price it is nice.

I also felt that sort of cheapness, but the liners inside make it feel hefty and, who knows, maybe ill get some scales done for it. An extra 130 bucks lol...

Look around, you can get a Barrage for a whole lot less than $120-$130. I have to admit that the snap of the fullsize Barrage opening is addictive.:D It actually jumped out of my hand when I didn't have secure grip. As for the scales, I like plastic! It is light, very tough, and looks good after extended wear or use.

Yeah but the limited production number is worth it IMO

I need to check one of these out. I have held the new Presidio w/ plastic handles, and they seem fine. My Delica has plastic handles and seems no weaker for it.

I have a Mini-Barrage I got in trade a while back. I like it, even though I'm not a big fan of AO knives in general. It does need some new scales, the plastic feels cheap (not like Spyderco's FRN, more like the Mini-Grip scales). I think I'll get some nice G10 scales for it, next time I have an extra $100 lying around:( That knife deserves it. Benchmade missed the boat on that one, IMO.

You know what though as nice as the Barrage is if you want the AO and G-10 I'd say go for the 890 Torrent. Another new one this year and aboot the same size as the full size Barrage. Its the torrent assist though not the Axis. Price difference would end up cheaper by them time you but the scales on.
