So a not too long ago, I received a Benchmade 585 with the satin finished 145CM blade in a trade for two crapper knives. I liked the knife, but I wanted something else, so I traded it for an original RAT Izula in desert tan and $40. I thought it was a good trade. I missed the BM, but I loved the new blade.

Today's story:

So I just got paid and I have been cruising for a new decent folder, but I didn't want to spend too much. I usually cruise around local pawn shops with no luck. I walked into this crap pawn shop and this guy was loading a 9mm(for a customer), lighting a cigarette, and talking on his bluetooth. I didn't have much hope, but I haven't been in the store in a few months so I proceeded to browse the cabinets. All I seen was Frosts, CHINESE no-names, and old broken bladed cases/imperial/SAK/schrades, but they didn't have any newer knives, or even any Bucks.. The guy's son asked if he could help me in anything specific. I replied, "No thanks, I am just looking around for a new EDC." He says, "We have this Benchmade." I was expecting a chinese copy BM42.. Nope. He hands me a Mint Benchmade 585 Mini-Barrage with the PE and black coated blade in 154CM. I couldn't believe it. I thought they would be asking for something totally out of the water, just like their other knives.. He belted out, I'll take $75 for it. Now this thing is brand new. It has the little draw string bag Benchmades come in, but it didn't have the box. I talked him down to $70, tax and everything. I think this was an all-in-all fair deal. New, without the box, Benchmade 585BK for $70 flat. Here's some photos. What's a new knife thread without pics?!?! Back to where I was thinking with my old 585, does anybody know where I can find a backspace and scales? I can't pay $250 for a $125 knife. I just can't find myself to do that!

Thanks, Kallum.

Nice! I don't care for coated blades on 154CM, but at that price I would have jumped on it.

That is a very nice knife! I had one but ended up selling it because I wasn't a big fan of the AO or scales and my buddy really wanted to buy it from me, but some custom scales on would make it close to perfect. Enjoy!

I, personally, like the AO but I don't not like the feel of the scales a tad. Still a great knife! This is actually my first coated folder. I have my Izula(which gave me one hell of a cut last night) and my BK2 but I don't have experience with Benchmades coatings.

I don't see AO as a good or bad feature, to me it's really a personal preference. Definitely a great knife! One of my favorite blade shapes on a folder.

Awesome score and one of my fav BM's.

For 70 bucks flat that's a great price and no biggie about the box.

BM's coating is pretty decent, I've had no problems in the past.

And like Rogue mentioned, AO is all about personal preference.

It depends on the blade for me, some knives I like AO and others I prefer without.
