I actually got my new BM catalog today. I have never been really satisfied with the sheath that came with mine. The knife would fall out if you held it upside down. This new one has some kind of toggle at the top that holds it in securely. Does anyone have one of these and can you tell me how it works? I really can`t tell by th pictures. Thanks. Roger

w, if you are thinking about ordering a new sheath for a knife you have, contact Normark (Eric Noldechen). He makes a first class kydex sheath for the Nimravus. You don't even have to send the knife since he has one. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks, do you happen to have his web address? Roger

Thanks a lot Owen. Really appreciate the info. Roger

Hi W,

Yep get one from Normark (Eric) his Nimravus sheath fits my knife like a handmade leather glove and fit and finish are outstanding.

Your Nimravus won't fall out but still will be quickly ready for use with a sharp short pull.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Eric (Normark) makes a great sheath for the Nimravus. The Benchmade sheaths are kind of a standing joke between us because their second effort was worse than the first, and it keeps us in business doing after market sheaths for this knife. I've been waiting to see what the new one is like 'cause I've got my doubts on the practicality of the togle thingee. A properly made sheath does not need any extra bells and whistles.

I, for one, am shocked and appalled! (I appall quite easily.) Out of idle curiosity, just checked two well known -- 1 quite close -- internet knife sellers to see what they had to say about the Nimravus, and hopefully, it's sheath.

I am not able to believe that these two fierce competitors just "happened" to write exactly the same prose describing the Nimravus and its sheath. Yet, strangely, their prose is identical. That makes me believe that Benchmade wrote it. I think that qualifies as advertising. If what you gentlemen say is true, then Benchmade's advertising is not wholly honest. Hence my appallment and shocked status.

Here is what BM says about the Nimravus sheath: (And I quote) : "One of the most important features of any fixed blade should be the sheath, and this one is no exception. Constructed of Kydex®, the sheath is impervious to the elements. It features a clip that allows the knife to be positioned for right or left hand use. The sheath may also be carried inside, or outside, the waistband. The versatility of the knife and its sheath design allows for carry and use in nearly any application that warrants a tough, mid-sized fixed blade knife. "

Shocking! Appalling!

The new style sheath (shown in the current catalog) is expected out in four months or so, according to Angie. The second type was actually okay, as long as you were looking for a positive-retention sheath.
