How does the new BM Sentinel(s) (BM 880/885) compare to the original BM 875? I was wondering because the retail price seems to have increased slightly and I'm wondering what improvements they made.

thanks,

They are using G-10 for the scales instead of alum. These will resist wear better. And they have an actual stop pin in them instead of using the thumb studs as a stop pin. This helps to keep the excessive up and down out of the blade that was a real problem with the 875. Hope this helps

Haven't handled a Darkstar myself, but I do own a Sentinel. I understand that the Darkstar is better made and as stated before the actually locking pin will certainly help prolong it's life. Unfortunatley I prefered the aluminum handles over G-10. I might have picked one up, but I REALLY don't like the gold insert. Maybe if it was some other colour. Just my opinion, mind you.

There are only two types of people; those who understand this, and those who think they do.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll try to take a look at one in the next gun or knife store I come across (not very many near me that sell higher end production knives).
