Couple of new BMs popped up over at Knifeworks in their "New 2016" category. New axis model 698 and new gold class 908-161. Looks interesting!

Am I reading this correctly? The 698 is not assisted, has Axis lock, a 4"+ grip, 3"+ blade and will sell for a street price of about $175?

Seems to fit my requirements.
 
If you read the text on the 698 - what was the predecessor?

Just wondering... I am still in for one :thumbup:
 
Wow. I was ready to pick up a G10 grip after the "first production" ones were gone and the blade cleaned up. Guess I'll wait a bit longer and grab this 698 instead.

Are my eyes playing tricks? I can't tell if the blade has a recurve. I had an HK 14210 that had a recurve and could not get that part sharp on my stones.
 
Selling price on the 698 is a little more than my estimated $175. Pre-order price is just over $190 and that's pushing right up against my absolute maximum of $200 on any future knife. It's not a deal breaker but it's definitely gonna make me ponder any future purchase.
 
698 is pretty sweet. Nice details; pivot, grips, full liners, CPM-20CV, etc.
Gonna have to try this...
 
698 for me once the "First Run" markings have all been sold. I have those markings on only one BM knife my 485; "No sir I don't like it one bit." :)
 
I hate waiting for the first production run to complete. May have to get one with "first run" markings. The wear down pretty quickly.
