I got this idea.

I am going to pack everything I need in an M65 Field jacket with a liner installed. Air Force pilots knife, Stainless steel cup, bottle of bleach for water purif., K&M matchcase with compass, LED light, some energy bars, etc. in all the pockets, Then I am going to roll it up and put some straps on it for carry and loops for an air rifle.

No fluff. No space blanket, no BS preppy survival crap. Just real tools.

I have slept in the snow in an M65 jacket on more than one occaision, so I figure if I have one in addition to what I am wearing.........

That's great man, having a bear-bones 'go kit' is super handy. I keep a light pack around as well.

I like keeping the air rifle with it, and I like keeping the liner in the jacket. It seems like keeping the US GI type canteen setup with the pockets for purification tabs, cup, etc would be a simple way to go too. I might also include either a magnesium firestarter or firesteel, just because matches get wet. Also some paracord. Those are both tiny additions that add a lot of use/comfort.

Your BOB Roll Up Idea Is Great, I've got several Field Jacket's, And I'm getting one ready for a Roll up Survival Kit, Thank's for sharing your Idea, Very Innovative !

Until I moved to Florida I kept my old field jacket packed exactly like that. To hot here 90% of the year so it was useless. Now I keep a camelback loaded up the same way. Lose the bleach and add purification tabs from walmart. The firesteel and paracord are great additions and maybe a silnylon poncho. That would deal with most all situations and have the benefit of staying dry.
Good Plan
