Just checking with you pros if this lockup is safe? It feels a bit early to me.

Also, this knife is Bokers high-end made in Germany line and is supposed to be on full ball bearings but it feels gritty? I think it's pressure from the frame lock pressing against the side of the blade. Is this a new knife thing?

I don't think it looks early, but to each his own. Cool knife.

Let us know how the steel does.

That lockup is pretty close to many folks "ideal". Great close up pics by the way- they illustrate the lock up well.
I'd feel fine about that particular degree of lock up. It will probably scootch another hair to the secure direction after some break-in.

The grittiness will likely too alleviate with some break-in exercises.

Looks good to me:) it will only walk more to the center as it breaks in. I'd flush it out with some cleaner then some canned air and it it with a drop of high quality oil. I would guess that should take care of the grittiness. Lovely knife:)

If there is no blade play, then the lock bar will gradually move further inward with use. The beauty of framelocks is that the harder you grip them, the stronger they get.

Thanks guys– no blade play, it's nice and tight. I don't have many frame locks but I had a Mnandi which is basically a 100% lockup so I saw this and wasn't sure! I might hit it with some compressed air. What's the recommended lube if I do disassemble and clean out the factory stuff?

Bearings I use KPL, washers I use TW25

That tracks. CRKs are generally much later lockup than many others knives and according to them, this is by design. All my CRKs are at something like 80%-90%.

A beaten horse, but I'll +1 those above.
When a knife breaks in it usually arrives at a lockup % where it's happy and stay
