Just this minute rec. the new and improved BOKER Epicenter, along with a John Loyd friction folder. The JL of course is friction folder madness, I have tried nor seen any better. The BOKER I would have to say at the price point bought is probably along the same lines as the JL, but for a manufactured piece, they are both that nice and I kid you not. keepem sharp

Glad to hear you're enjoying the epicenter, It really piqued my interest with the ffg vg-10 blade and contoured Ti handles but there were waaaay too many cases of misaligned handle scales for me to drop that kind of money on it.

So are you saying the Epicenter is a good knife now? I've been almost wanting to get one but held off after the Gen 1 stuff . . .

I was going to snag one from GPKnives () ;) the other day but wanted to get more info first . . .

Thanks!

I couldn't even find any for sale in 2011. But then with all of the quality control problems the first batch had, I am glad that I waited.

I bought one from the recent batch and it is great. I don't have any prior experience with framelocks and this is one impressive knife!

This is the reworked "new" version. Impressive is an under statement. It is just a very very well made knife. Can't post pics here but like I said there ain't a sharp edge on it except where there is supposed to be one. keepem sharp

It's a great looking folder. Except for the blade steel, it reminds me of the wonderful Acies by A.G. Russell.

They are of similar size and shape.

But the Acies is 4.8 ounces and the Epicenter's spec lists a whopping 6.8 ounces.

I'd be interested in any user comments about this weight. Thanks.

Yes it is on the heavy side.

I will be carrying it to work this week as my main EDC.

I don't have a scale available, but it compares to the Spyderco Manix 2 XL for weight and I have been carrying it for a while now.

The weight of it doesn't really bother me.

If they make a/the mini, I'm in! Cannot believe how awesome the Todd Rexford mini epicenter is...too bad you'd have to sell your first born to get one. So Boker needs to make one.

+ 1
(And if they did, it would be nice if buyers didn't have to wait for Version No. 2. I love Boker's collaboration designs; the executions leave something to be desired.)

I like the intricate machining on it, but it still seems too expensive for a Chinese knife.

For the quality I don't think it is to expensive. If it was USA made or in Germany I wouldn't be able to afford it I don't think. I am telling ya this knife is made very well and precisely more to the point. keepem sharp

Are the scales aligned? That was the problem with the first ones out and I didn't get one for that reason, so it would be interesting to know if it's been fixed.

Read the first post or go the BOKER forum to read some stuff on it. Everything as far as I can tell has been fixed. It is an outstanding folder no matter where it is made. I own it and am blown away at how well made it is. keepem sharp

I have one from the first run. The scales are a little off, buy its still an Awesome Knife! Super thick titanium probably 5 mm thick. And 4mm on the VG10. Even if they are fixed know I still have no regrets buying one. Pick one up if you can.
