For those who might not know there is a new book out about Jim Schmidt. I just ordered my copy today and when I have it I will let you'll know what I think about it. The book is made by Francesco Pachi and you can see here what it looks like: http://www.pachi-photo.com/index.php/book-shop I think it is great that we have yet another book about one of the great makers.

Looking forward to your review. Although I never met him, Jim's knives have always been an inspiration for me. He was one of the first pioneers of the New England style of knife and have influenced many others in that style.

Should be a great book. James Schmidt was a fascinating man from what i've read about him.

Interesting that the book was done by Francesco Pachi.

I received the book and thumbed through it. Given the size of the book and amount of text it will take me a weekend to read it all. It is a real quality book, on the same level as David Darom's books:thumbup: Around 140 of Jim Schmidt's knives are shown in great detail and clarity. For me together with David's book on Julie Warenski-Erickson the highlight of the year and a great addition to my library.

For you guys in the US Nordic Knives is carrying the book as well.

Between posts, I had written to FP but now that Dave Harvey has the books, I just called and ordered mine which he will bring to Blade 2013 for me. Looking forward to the book for sure. Likely never will be able to get a JS knife but at least the book will be nice to own. Thanks for the info Marcel

I own the book and it is the ultimate!
incredible photography & layout.

^^^ I totally agree. Just got a copy yesterday, and the quality of the content and the book itself are EXCEPTIONAL.

I am VERY happy to have it.
