I read as much as I can on old (and new) knives as well as how they were made. One of my favorite subjects are the knives of the Sheffield era. Several books have provided me and some of the makers I order from a lot of inspiration when deciding on a project. (and I also know first hand that is the case in some of the knives others have pictured on this forum.) ;).

This book The Heritage Of English Knives by David Hayden-Wright is up there with one of my favorites. (Sheffield Exhibition Knives)

The book has 42 chapters covering topics from production to about every applicable subject including fakes, exhibition pieces, miniatures, axes, surgical instruments, all types of pocket knives, razors, bowies, military knives and the all important lady's garter dagger. According to the author's wife, Mr. Hayden_Wright passed away in Jan 2006 before the book was published after spending 40 years researching for this book.

I will add more details later as I digest it, but for now I already know that this quality book will provide more inspiration to quite a few collectors and makers. I was able to get a decent deal on it at Amazon. I think Knife World is carrying it also, so take a look around before ordering.

Ughhhhh. . . .you're not supposed to eat it. If you ate it. . . .well. . . .I know how the digestive system works. :p :D

That's right...and you know the other day, when I was joking about Tony poopin out knives?....that was a metaphor OK.:D

I Just received my copy a few days ago. It looks to be excellent. I can't wait to get 'stuck-in'

I really would like to get a copy of this. Was it published in the US or UK?

US that I know of. Just off the press with a 2008 copyright.
(Google is your friend as far as getting a good price).

OK, I figure I will have swallowed it pretty well by Blade. :D.
