Hey guys,

I'm fairly new around here. After reading much of what you guys were saying about knives i finally decided on the Busse Boss Street. I had ordered it and it finally came in today. Looking over the knife - it's fantastic and exactly the geometry i was looking for; however, it seems to me that the right edge of the blade is more grinded than the left side, thus making the point of the blade look off center... is this normal? any input on this would be great. I did send an email in to customer service, but i wanted to see what you folks thought as well.

Thanks,
Whiskeyfox

It does happen. It's a hand-made blade. Someone grinds that primary and secondary by hand. If it a pain, the shop will take it back for exchange no questions asked.

I have a few knives from various makers that I have to adjust my Edge-Pro side-to-side to match the original angles. . . or take off more steel to even it out. I prefer to just adjust.

To be honest, same happened to mine. What I should have done was get it sent to one of the guys here who offer sharpening services. What I did was try and fix it myself. It didn't turn out perfect, but it's better. Being in Australia, it costs $40 every time you send something overseas, then $40 back, plus whatever it costs to get the job done. If you are in USA, it's not bad at all.

You could try and send it back to the factory, but I'm not sure it's covered?

Nobody is perfect, so you should ask yourself if it will affect the performance of what you are going to use it for and if you want it changed, can you touch it up and save everyone the hassle, if not, send it back and get it adjusted.

This guy is amazing :D send him a PM. He will sort you out with a zero ground, atom splitting sharp edge at a very fair price!!! I'd recommend putting it through its paces first though to see if it's a problem and what you think of the knife in general.
Regards,
Gabriel.

contact amy-o and send it in.ive had a couple of new knives resharpened with no extra charge.busse is great about that.

It says Inspected on the cardboard. :) At this cost every knife shipped should be perfect. Busse should cover all costs.
When shipping it back...

add a walking stick for the blind, and give it to the person who inspected your knife. :D

You just got an asymetrical grind and you are complaining??

No seriously, I have no doubt that Amy-O and Busse will take care of you.

I cringe every time I see one of these posts. You come on here, and we all talk up Busse, then you take the plunge, and spend your hard earned $$$$ and take a Risk on Busse, and get a sub standard grind. Not acceptable. Sorry mate.

It has never happened to me, but I makes me sad when It happens to some one else.

I would just fix it if it was mine. But be ticked none the less.

My Urban Grudge came with asymmetrical grind, I still love the knife, it doesn't effect the performance a slightest bit. Matter of fact considering that Busse knives aren't exactly known for their acute edge angles, this actually makes a sharper knife out of the box. So if your grind is asymmetrical check to see if you have the same thing going then I'd be happy as it'll make a fantastic user. If you are going for the pretty, or if the shorter grind is to obtuse then simply exchange it.

My "assymetric grind" boss street was nothing like as sharp as my RMD or BWM straight from factory. IMO really any new knife should come at least shaving sharp, which the 2 bigger blades were, but the BS wasn't. I didn't mind too much because it made me learn about sharpening systems and sharpening knives. If my next Busse comes like that though I will send it back, because of how long it took me to almost fix it.

Maybe they are having a problem with whatever machine does the BS blades? At least OP told them, and they can check it out. I didn't because... it didn't occur to me :(

Well somebody went all out with my UG, I actually thought posting about when I got it. The S.S.S.S. was almost completely shredded It was literally in ribbons.

Its shaving sharp (as I for some stupid reason just checked for again), But I remember my BATAC that thing came well I wouldn't call it blunt, but I had axes sharper then that. Afterwards Jerry and the guys have been steadily improving the factory edge, and when about half a year ago it needed to go to the spa, the edge put on it was very good (I still remember cause, I showed it to my boss who within seconds managed to cut himself, ahhh good times).

Sorry for your situation but stuff like that will happen, there is an exception to every rule, as they say.

However prior to owning Busse my most expensive knife was about $60 worth, so Most of the knives I had wouldn't even accept this kind of sharpness. So I didn't notice the problem with my BATAC for a while.

My situation is fine, no problems with it. Just that I would do it differently next time. I'm actually quite happy because I'd never properly sharpened a knife before, and it helped that I HAD to learn.
