Received this in the mail today. Been wanting a Bowie for quite a while now.
Initial impressions are very positive.

When I started my search, I was looking for something with a longer blade, around 11 inches. After doing a lot of research I decided to get something 9 inches or less. I'm glad I went with the shorter blade. Very sharp.

Nice sheath. It has the gun belt loop and cross draw belt slide.

Not much else to say about it for now, just wanted to share.

That's nice, the shape looks a little more suited to a smaller knife but still looks great.
When I think of a gunfighter's knife I normally think of a Sheffield style Bowie, but now I'll probably picture something like this now.

No but I will consider doing so.

I recommend against it. If you ever want to use it for utility purposes, you'll be limited by the full sharpened swedge. Just my experience from owning a similar knife, the Dawson Sheffield bowie.

I didn't really need it for anything in particular, just felt like buying something to celebrate the knife law repeal in Texas.

I don't even like fixed blades but after seeing that pic I want one. Incredible pickup!!

Thanks Power. It was one of the first Bowies that I stumbled across when I started my research.
After looking at hundreds of pics and watching many vids, it was still the one that checked the most boxes for me.

I enjoy Bowie's.
Yours looks great.
If it were mine I would sharpen it. Here's some information from the master himself if you've not seen these videos they're certainly worth considering.

Great videos, thanks. You're going to love this.
Step 1:
Watch Bagwell backcut video.

Step 2: Try a few moves

Very nice! Did you have it made for you, or was it already available? Not that it matters, I've had knives made, and bought others off of a table at a show. They cut the same, which is all that really matters, but there's just a bit more pride in ownership of a blade made specifically for you. Regardless, that's a really good looking knife, and I'm glad you get to carry it! And, please, find SOMETHING to use it on besides cat-litter. Carve a ham, or cut a steak with it, if nothing else(preferably at home, don't wanna scare the straights TOO badly, tho I don't know you, I could be wrong on that!). A knife that never cuts anything is like a Ferrari that never gets driven. Pretty, but really just an expensive paperweight...

That's a Texas blade if I've ever seen one! It's most certainly a looker too.

I'd agree with the blade size as well, I know some people love a 14" Bowie strapped on to their belt, but I'm a fan of the "less is more" idea(though it's not like a 9" blade is less, haha). Fantastic purchase.
