I have had the design for this bowie floating around in my head for something like the last year or so and I finally had to make it just so I could get some rest! I like the recurve aspect of it. The stag feels great in the hand, and the blade has a nice ring to it. The balance point is right on the ferrule right behind the guard.

Blade length: 9"
OAL: 15"
Blade Material: 1095, clay quenched.
Handle material:Sambar Stag
Guard and pommel: Wrought iron from old anchor chain
Sheath: 7-8 ounce veg-tan cowhide, cut, tooled and stitched by me.

The finial on the end cap is turned and polished stainless, heat-colored.

Nice Knife. Could you tell me your thinking on the curvature of the handle. Normally the handle curves in the same plane as the flat of the blade...yours appears to be perpendicular to it.

Yet another reason why these guys on this forum are my heroes.....Good gosh, what a beautiful piece of work.

It just seemed to work better that way.

I got to say, it feels real good in the hand.

Yep!! Tapper. Did I also put some HT'g relish in the trade too????:D :D

Awsome! Looks like a handfull. Think I understand the curve of the handle, bet it follows the curve of your rite hand?

damn -- that's a nice blade! Great design and execution.

It looks really well made Higgy, and it looks quite elegant! :D

But in all honesty... and only because I see this a lot these days from lots of people...

To me, it completely kills the flow of the overall lines of a knife to have the ricasso so wide with such a narrow width of the handle at the ferrule. It stops my eye right there...

It's not just me though, as I have known of many a collector to pass up on a well made knife because of this reason. Just something to think about.

Now I'll wander far far away before everybody thinks I'm an ugly troll!

That butt cap is a fine piece of work too, as well as the sheath. Is that
hand stitched?

That's a neat piece of steel. The blade does look a bit "blocky" to me, as Nick touched on but, hey... what the hell. Sometimes you gotta make 'em to get them out of your head.

looks good, lot's of style. i was hoping to see a non-traditional looking bowie and that is different enough to be unique...
