I have just got the photos back of a new style bowie( for me anyhow). Based on the Ironman style that I have made for years but featuring a half guard for economy.

Being a knifemaker of little imagination this one is called a Half Gaurded Ironman Bowie on my web site.

BTW... You could always call it "Bob"

Quick question, would you do a 'wilderness' (no frills user) version of Bob? I mean the half-guarded iron man bowie!
(My fiscal knife year begins in August, and it is research time)

Folks around here are leaning toward the name Fred but that is a little to informal for my liking.

Almost any model can be made up in a wilderness format, this one included. Substituting micarta for stag makes a significant difference in cost. Whenever possible I prefer to use stag because it is more traditional and shows well.

Very nice bowie. Good luck getting much more of that nice stag though. I like the single guard on a bowie that is going to be used anyway. A double guard looks great, but just gets in the way if you actually use the knife. Great stuff!
