Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum, and this is my first post. I discovered this forum while searching for info on the Buck Frontiersman/Nemo. What a wealth of information on all things sharp!

The new 124 is simply amazing... (pics will be coming)

Fit and finish is flawless.

Came razor blade sharp.

Is the most beautiful knife I have ever owned.

The handle is perfect. I was worried because many felt it was too big and blocky, but it fits my hand like a glove.

This will be a working knife, and I can't wait to use it.

My current buck 119 will remain my hunter, but this will be my all purpose knife.(including hunting duties when the 119 isn't along)

I can't say enough good things about this knife. It has exceeded all expectations so far.

I do have a request...

Does anyone know where I can get one of the Nemo dive sheaths to go with this knife. I used to be a dive instructor, and still enjoy diving. I know this was originally a dive knife, and that makes it even more meaningful to me. If I can just get a Nemo sheath, it will be with me while in the woods or the water.

Thanks!!

Hi Minnesotahhunter,

Welcome to the Buck Forum:thumbup:. The 124 is one of my favorite Buck knives, so I know you are going to love it. Good luck on your quest for the plastic Nemo sheath as they are very hard to find. Those sheath's are also costly, assuming you bought one of the new 124's currently in production you can expect to pay up too 2 times that just for the empty plastic sheath. If I were you I'd look at the large auction sites as they do pop up from time to time for sale.

Thanks jb4570.

I think I will look at other options for a dive sheath... Can't see spending that much for an original. This will be a work horse rather than a collector.

Thanks!

You don't need a sheath, carry that beast between your teeth when your out in the woods, at least that's what I do when I don't want other people or the animals bothering me, it works

Good advice but... I have the sheath for the woods, and can't carry in my teeth under water because of my scuba gear...

I do like the kydex idea.

I was a free diver for a lot of years. Used a no-name dive-knife strapped to my leg but didn't trust diving in amongst the seaweed -- didn't want to risk getting it caught and so ended leaving it up on my float when I dived. Sometimes I dived in an area used by a scuba-diving training class. I would frequently see gear on the bottom. I once found a knife much heavier and better than mine -- might have weighed as much as a 124. I don't dive any longer but would have been ashamed to drop a 124 on the bottom. If I was bent upon using the 124 as a dive knife I would at least drill a hole in the butt to put a little strip on, something I could slip my hand through so the knife wouldn't get away from me.

I used a cheap no-name knife because I wouldn't have been afraid to lose it -- no such luck. I still have it -- don't have the better heavier knife I found -- don't know what happened to it. Some of the places I dived I would stop on some rocks on the way in and clean he fish -- really tough to do with a knife that wouldn't hold a good edge, but at least I could cut off the heads and gut them -- then clean off the scales, etc when I got home.

Did a quick check of the internet -- think I'd prefer a Cressi Borg Long Blade Diving Knife to a Buck 124 -- its lighter, has a sheath made for diving and is much cheaper than a 124 -- and better than the cheap diving knife I used to use. I recall novice scuba divers urging me to dive down and fetch lost gear for them -- they'd usually drifted a bit by the time I went down so it wasn't where they thought it was. if you lost a Cressi Borg you could just leave it there, buy another and then not tell anyone what you did. :)

The 122 Nemo always reminds me of Thunderball. :)
