Two days ago, I bought a new Stockman 301. This knife is a replacement for a stockman (brand unknown) I lost about 45 years ago and, to this day, have been uable to find. The new Buck is really a nice knife. Very sharp out of the box and nicely finished.

Does anyone know of what material the black handle scales are made? Is it just generic plastic?

Most people refer to it as delrin. I think it is actually a substance called celanese polyester. At any rate, it is a very durable composition plastic.
Maybe Joe can add more.

Just curious, you just now replaced a knife you lost about 45 years ago!? If you had bought a Buck back then, I bet you'd still have it. :D

I would have bought a new knife sooner, but I was still looking for the one I'd lost. I will probably continue my search during my remaining years. I really hate to be a quitter.
