I got this Buck 501 Squire off the Brown Truck today. There's nothing special about it over the hundreds of thousands made previously except that it is mine.

The handles are kind of a light rose color. Not exactly sure how to describe the color. I guess that's what pictures are for. The fit and finish of this knife is excellent -- no blade wobble and no gaps, etc..

The knife came with a flap sheath (on the left as you look at the picture) but I have an old 501 Squire open top sheath (on the right as you look at the picture). I plan on pocket carrying this knife so I won't be using either sheath.

Even though I plan on pocket carrying this knife in my right front pocket, I'll still carry my old, Case, Barlow, slip-joint in my left front pocket.

 The squire has become one of my favorite EDC knives, that and the Vantage Pro. Heck, a lot of the times I have both with me:D Congrast bro, enjoy!

I bought a 501 Squire onboard the USS Ranger in the Ship's Store in 1980 and the open top sheath came with it. When I left the Ranger, I gave the knife to anothr guy in the division but kept the sheath. I think Buck went to the flap-sheath sometime around 1983/1984.

The open top sheath fits the 501 I got today like a glove.

The pins show clearly in the new models. You could not see the pins in the older models. I believe this is a similar blade shape as the Case sodbuster.
