I recently picked up a 422 with a single dot date code, not shown above. What would that indicate?

The 112/110 are the same in reference to the dots. The first 112's did not have a nail nick. In fact, we only added it because our sales guy at the time was convinced that if we added a nail nick, sales on the 112 would increase tremendously. We added the nick and sales stayed the same.Great, but the same.
The 422 with one dot does not have anything at all to do the with 112/110 dots sequence. Right now I am still researching but I believe the one dot on your 422 refers to the change from a conventionally blanked part to a fineblanked part in about 1985. I'm still a little unclear on this one though so don't quote me.
