Does anyone know when the Avids will start shipping. Patience has never been one of my strong suits. That's why I'm always broke, and in trouble with my wife. And I really want to cut something with a new knife. :) Also, I emailed Buck the other day, got a reply from the famous Joe H. I was asking about an idea I had, someone else probably already thought of it, but I asked anyway. I have a Buck Strider, it has a rough section on the blade for increased grip. I noticed on one of the new fixed blade hunters, I forget the name. But it has one also. I asked about the feasibility of getting something like that on 110's and 112's. He said it wouldn't be feasible for just me. So all of you need to order one so I can have one also. Thanks for your support. :)

Maine, Excuse me as I was not specific. I was meaning the notches for gripping, like those on the 277.DM

Maine, I agree. Its also very heavy duty, easy to clean and offer in different steels.DM

Hi Dave... It would have made a fine Valentine dinner ;) happened to be New Year Eve dinner. I checked and it's stock 440HC? Still a nice knife, smooth one hand opening and lockup.

Maine, I think you mean 420HC.Anyway, the year of its introduction which may have been
04 or 03 the year Buck moved to ID.,it was offered in ATS34.DM

You're right -- 420HC, must have been standard for the 270, apparently the 271 had ATS.

Did some checking:

"The Buck 271 Alpha Dorado is a solid knife with a proven design that will stand up to hard use. The 271 has an ATS-34 steel blade, Rosewood handle and Burgundy leather sheath. "

Maine, I bought one when it first came out as I liked it.Then kept it for my daughters graduation gift. Now, she likes it and carries it.In 2006 that same knife was offered as the Club knife, with mirror polished 154CM blade and routed buffalo horn, a nice package. That steel takes a nice edge.DM
