After reading about the quality control issues (blade play, lock-up, etc.) I was hesitant to buy one. I finally decided to take the plunge and bought one still sealed in the original box from a fellow formunite after his assurance that it was of late production. It arrived today and the fit and finish are excellent! Zero blade play, the locking bar rests on the first one third of the tang and the blade is perfectly centered. This thing is scary sharp as well. The fit and finish don't equal that of my Sebenzas but it's close. It did come sharper than any of my Sebenzas or Mnandis though. I'm a happy camper!

Congrats on an excellent purchase! I have two . . . one was a gift (THANKS AGAIN MAN!) and the second was a trade . . . both are spot on and have held up well to daily carry!

So are people actively avoiding the first runs?

I have a first run that doesn't seem to want to sell.

DaveH,

I, obviously, can't speak for others but after reading about the QC issues with the first run of them (vertical blade play, poor locking bar finish and alignment) I've avoided them. If the price had been right and I was assured of a three day inspection/return priviledge, I might have been tempted but I'd rather pay a little more and avoid the potential hassle. The individual I bought mine from is a well respected forumite that I've done business with in the past. But then again, not everyone is the anal perfectionist that I am.
Good luck with your sale.

I'd like to ask another question, some places have the knife for $185, some for $155 (ebay). Any guess as to what the actual average street price is?
