I've just received my new Buck Mayo Northshore. First out of the box impressions are that it is a well made knife, fit and finish are top notch, the blade is suitably razor sharp (as expected from Buck), the opening action is very smooth and the lock-up of the linerlock is solid and well centered. This is a sturdy knife with a lot of blade but is very lightweight, thanks in part to the nested SS linerlock in the aluminum handles. There were a few sharp corners on the handles but they will be smoothed down with a ceramic stone. Buck has clearly marked the blades origin of Taiwan. Overall, it's a great effort to provide a working man's priced on a production Mayo. Materials notwithstanding, it compares favorably to the high end Titanium & S30V Buck Mayo.
I also have 2 of the new Benchmade Red Series Taiwan made knives, the Mini-Ambush and Monolock. As for overall fit, finish and quality they are good knives however, I'm carrying the Buck Mayo Northshore.
I'll update the forum as I carry this knife and report on it's durability.
Cheers!
