Handled that new buck mayo this weekend (dont recall what its called). It retails for about 44 bucks, made in china. Must, say i was highly unimpressed. The edge was sharpened like the cheap garbage out of china for 12 bucks, tooling marks all over the place. Plus the Frame lock is extra cheezy. it practically bends when you press it to release the lock. In addition, i found that the blade indent didnt hold the blade closed with enough tension to ease my mind by carrying it. Not that i hold high standards for a knife with this MSRP, but for a knife company that puts out the incredible 110 for the same money, top notch manufacture, and made in America, i cant understand why this knife is so lacking in the quality department.

Model?

FWIW, I bought a Buck/Mayo (made in Taiwan) a few months ago for about Cdn$75 just to see what it's like - and I was VERY impressed with what I got for the money. (and now I no longer have to use my timascus/damascus Mayo to pry open paint cans ;) )

yes i believe it was the hilo. Yes, the Taiwan version is much better than this one, but for the money just didnt think it was enough knife

I've had a Cutback for about a week now and after some mods it's ready to go! When I got the thing, I just considered it a knife I could work on.

mods- 1,now right-hand tip-up carry. 2,now has a modifided reverse-tanto blade. 3, because of tip-up carry, the knife was completly disassembled and reassembled using blue lock-tight, lock strength was improved, blade is centered and reprofiled and is darn sharp.

*love doing this stuff! (too much time on my hands)
