Very nice Dave!! You can't beat brass with wood for that classic look. Did Eric stabilize that Chestnut?
you know i dont know.... i have not asked ... this is some of the 2ed lot i sent you to try out...it will have a brown milk chocklet tone
not redish
it as it is chestnut...and unlike oak it will gray out fast in air unless you finish it with a protector... that is why chestnut was not a fine furnture wood at all but was a structor beam and board and did not rot and got worme in it but oak dont get a worm like that...
it can be hard to tell even with a close look that it is not a oak....
it has a pore structor you could suck air through so sealer will travel through it, i pulled water like a straw once... it is kind of a one direction thing tho... oak wont do that... i orgionaly thouht it was oak but was informed it was chestnut but is a difrent type if chestnut then the first i sent you
it is on the oder of that sycmore and white oak look a lot a like but are difrence as sycomour splinters and red oak is like white oak to use but for the red color tone but all 3 are related as are all nut trees...
pecan comes closest to chestnut color but is a fine finishing wood... closed pores is why...
i have a guy in cal that is doing some small parts for me in ex change for some of the wood.
i will let you know how it turns out...
6x4x3 is the largest he can do ...
