New Buck today

The 110 sort of has a timeless quality about it. On my last hunt, I found myself going back to it for the skinning chores even though I had my smaller Fehrman on my side. You can search all over and not find a better folder for that price point.

I was shopping for X'mas at the PX today. While making my normal route, straight back to sporting goods to investigate any new blades that may be available I noticed a lonely 110 sitting on the shelf. It had obviously been opened and I brought this to the attention of the store manager, who immediately offered me a 25% discount on the knife! Never hurts to ask the question. Anyhow, I picked up the Buck 110 with leather sheath for 24 bucks. Walmart has one with a cordura (??) sheath, at least the nylon looking type, and its a few bucks more. This is my first 110, but definately not my first buck. I have EDC'ed Bucks in the past, and am adding this one to the rotation tomorrow. I'd post a pic, but we've all seen one before. I almost bought the other one, but am glad I waited for the leather sheath...thats a really nice sheath btw.

Just curious as to how old it is. Is interesting to me, when I find a 110 sitting around on some store shelf advertised "NEW" and while it is new, it may be several years old. I have ran into that at both Academy and Gander Mt. I guess "new, old stock" is the phrase being used.

I bought my first 110 for the exact same price......in the BX at Anderson AFB on Guam in 1969. I was in the Navy, but Anderson had a better BX.

Is there anything else that you could get for the same price as 1969?

It's true that the knife has changed over the years, but I don't doubt that today's knife is just as good as the 1969 model, maybe better.

Always a bargain.
