Well some of yall were kind enough to push me over the edge to get one. Haha. The thread was locked for some reason.

But I went to the gun shop I used to work at (hoping owner would throw me a bone. Plus working there. I know they are real.) and there were 2 that caught my eye. They had the Tan one $145 and the carbon fiber $220. I wasn’t thrilled about the tan (thinking long term and if it would get nasty over time.) but they lost the box for it. Not quite sure how. But they do sell hundreds of knives from cobratec to case to spyderco to Kershaw and Benchmade. So it’s possible. Anyway, owner said he’d sell it full price and a random Benchmade box and goodies or discount it. So I took the knife. Walked out with the tan one. $108 and some change after taxes. So can’t really complain for a new bugout!

Excuse the messy table. Back at work and that’s the cook’s table to eat.

I’m happy with it. Won’t mess with the scales unless they start to get gross down the line.

But for you aftermarket scale guys. What do you like? Who has the best?

I hesitate recommending anyone who does scales as I don’t know who are forum sponsors or not. I would send you a message, but you don’t have that privilege.

Applied weapons tech, Ripps Garage Tech and Rockscale design are some of the best made in the USA scale makers for the Bugout.

Great EDC and one of my favorites. I have been on vacation at the beach and only brought my mini bugout for edc duties.

Did get to use my Koster filet knife to filet a couple of seat trout however! It had only carved pumpkins prior to this.

I like the size of the Bugout but I wasn't a fan of the super light weight! It felt like a toy to me...so I got a set of AWT aluminum scales and never looked back! I love that little Bugout know!

I like the idea of the Mini. Never actually stopped to hold one. I’ll have to check one out!

See I thought that at first. But got used to it. I don’t have any issues with it. Especially as a EDC knife. And my only issues with replacing the scales, 1. It’s a great knife. You don’t have to change anything. Or shouldn’t have to. 2. Just another added cost. 3. More people than not mention it shifts the balance point (within reason it should.). The bugout is pretty much spot on balanced at the pivot. I love that

I’ve owned the oem carbon bugout for a couple years now.
Kinda have a love hate relationship going with it.
While I know it’s a solid high quality knife, it just feels frail and to light. Definitely not a knife u would split wood with.

But the overall slimness and weight in the pocket is great.
