The Becker Stork keeps flying by. I need to take break!

A couple of months ago the stork brought a wonderful BK14 to our household. After working on him for a while, he is just beautiful. He didn't arrive all that sharp (sorry baby) but now he is baaaaaad azz. And he is all mine.

Since then I have been eyeing the BK24. I did not want to strip the coating off of my 14 as I like it, but I was using it for some food prep as well and thought the 24 might work a little better for me (any excuse, right?). I pulled the trigger last week and my newest arrived a couple of days ago

Fresh from the stork.

And now, just a haaaaaiiiirrrr more mine.

This guy is going to be babied pretty much. Here he is making quick work of some donut holes. No hard duty for my BK 24. I will save that honor for the other family members.

I am loving this knife a lot. It arrived very sharp unlike the 14 and sans coating it just glides through food. The only sore spot with both knives are the sheathes. The 14 rattles just a little, that I can live with. But the 24 sounds like castanets. I have to deal with that on another payday.

I know you've all seen this before many times, so thanks for looking. And as always, I hope you're all having a great day!

One of the cheap quick fixes that I used on one of my old sheaths, was took some dryer lint, and stuffed it into the opening of the sheath, then pushed the knife in. It keeps it from rattling around in there pretty good!

Congrats on the new steel. I love my 24.

But, I can't tell you how very much I was hoping to see a BK all swaddled up like a baby, or maybe with a diaper and a baby bonnet. I may just have to win a round of the photo scavenger hunt and make a request...

Oh, and for a cheap fix for the rattle until the next payday, I put a small piece of blue painter's tape over the spine of mine. It's just enough to fill the gaps and comes off easily and quickly in the case of a donut hole emergency.

Plus, fire starting tinder!

Congratz on your new baby, Mrs. C. He sure is purty. And nice job butchering that donut hole. ;).

Wow, I don't have a 24 yet and I've been having to either bite my donut holes in two or eat them whole. Better start saving my pennies!
Very nice pic if the 14 there, you should put that in the artsy fartsy pic thread.
Glad to see the family's doing good. Do you have a 15 yet? It's a food prep machine!
Thanks for sharing, great post!

I have been using my 24 exclusively this month and have found it to be quite capable. Enjoy the new arrival.

Seeing a bk go to work on a donut hole is a first for me =)

Nice work on the growing collection. Enjoy!

Everybody loves reading your posts Mrs. C. It's always good to hear from you!

Congrats on the new steel too. Those little guys sure are cool. Need to get me one as well me thinks. And it made that donut hole look so classy! Onya Mrs. C!

That's my constant companion and most used knife. Love that 24. Good call.

Congrats on the new steel Mrs. The 14 and the 24 are my favourite blades. Use my 24 almost every other day.

Thanks very much for the suggestion... I just may try that for the time being! I have plenty of material to be certain.

LOL... I should have thought of that.

Another great suggestion. Thank you. Yeah, it was a toss up between donut holes and marshmallows, and I thought the donut hole would present more of a challenge. :p

Thank you very much! I do know that everybody thinks that their baby is beautiful, but in this case I do feel pretty confident that my feelings are accurate. :D

Eating them whole is dangerous. You have an issue to be sure and the ONLY cure is a 24! No time to waste! :)

I did post a very similar picture of my 14 on the "Post Photos of your Becker Knives" thread.

I don't. But that 15 looks very nice. I gotta slow down a bit though. I've purchased three Beckers in three months. For me that is a record!

Thanks for sharing, great post!

Thank YOU.

I would like to EDC mine, but unfortunately my employer would not appreciate it. I stick with my BM Grip in my purse. I am afraid to carry my 24. I'm not sure at this point if I would get into any trouble concealing it. It is nice to know that the 24 works well in that capacity for you.

LOL... Apparently you are not alone in that sentiment! I fear I'm becoming dangerously close to acquiring a nickname with this donut hole picture! :playful:

Nice work on the growing collection. Enjoy!

Thank you so much. I am thinking that there will be at least one more joining the famlly within the next three months or so. It seems that life is not complete without a King.

I have really appreciated/enjoyed all of your replies. You are all too kind.

You know? It does feel really good in the hand. It feels like.... quality. And as mentioned before, it's real purdy.

And it made that donut hole look so classy! Onya Mrs. C!

Heh heh.... I may have to get a few more donut holes to show off my BK7. :triumphant:
