Burt called me up recetly and said that my name was up on his list to make a knife. This is after about a year of asking him to create one. Hey, he's popular and getting more so as time progresses.

I must tell you guys one thing before even talking about the knife... Burt is a really great, personable guy to work with. He makes you feel like you're number 1. I wish him much success in whatever he does.

Moving on, we went through the specs on the phone and the only thing that I changed or wanted differently was for the spine to be at least 1/4 inch thick. I really like heavy duty, substantial knives.

This style knife was one of five Burt submitted early on to become a ABS master.

The fit and finish are awesome and it's flawless in every way.

English walnut handle. Damascus guard, that has a texture to it. The blade is 52100 ball bearing steel and is satin, has a choil, and is polished at the spine. The leather sheah is tanned a warm brown.

Needless to say, it was really worth the wait. My pics cannot convey what in person would be amazing. It is a big substantial knife that feels great in the hand.

That's a real custom knife, not a standard model turned out by a knifemaker's shop. I like the clean lines, a straightforward design. Beautiful work on the sheath, too.

We don't have a smiley for jealousy, do we?

:)

He makes his own sheaths? The handle looks a little flat or is that just the pictures?

1. Beautiful knife. Burt does great work, and is one of my favorite makers, PERIOD!

2. He makes his own sheaths.

3. His handles are fully contoured for hard use. We argue about this constantly(he and I)

Do you have a top down shot? Have you used it yet? I would be interested in your comments on the grip as the taper looks to make the grip get slimmer towards the guard which can have ergonomic issues with the hand slipping forward though contouring through the width can prevent that.

No more pics, and I put the camera away.

I just got it today and immediately posted pics. I'll use it on the next hunt, whenever that is. Grip is perfect for me. No issues here.
