It came in yesterday, and I have already done bushcraft with it. Whacking things down is about the only bushcraft I do well, so I got a big blade. It's the Rodent Waki from Swamp Rat. It has a 17.5" blade of 3/16" thick 52-100 differentially tempered steel. The generous micarta handle allows a two hand grip. Balance point is at the choil. Now to figure out how to carry this best on my little hikes.

The Waki can be thrown like a spear and penetration is good with its nice point.

If a diseased tree blocks your path, just Waki it!

Bad a$$

how does it feel chopping???

Actually, it works better for slashing than chopping, being not very blade heavy. There is a lot of shock and vibration during heavy chopping. That said, it does quite well for a sword. I have seen Katanas self-destruct doing what I did with the Waki. Other than the obvious "weapon" appearance of the Waki, it would actually be useful in camp or on the trail. I wouldn't recommend it over a golok or machete, but if one wanted to carry a weapon that was also useful as a camp tool, the Waki can do it. Mostly, it's just a fun blade to use.

Besides, if you happen to stumble upon a band of mean Uruk-hai's from Mordor along the way. . . :p

OH---MAN--I CAN SEE THAT!!!!

THANKS AGAIN BRO

Love it man, I play around on my acreage with a hanwei banshee 21in blade and 11in handle. Probably similar in performance it is great for clearing blackberries in a hurry.

vcery cool HD... those things are cool... they're a great/affordable alternative to the discontinued Busse AK's...

Haha, it is awesome :). I would get looks for sure if I strapped one of those on and went for a hike. Though I must say you've got a friendly face HD, so I don't think I'd be too scared if I ran into you on a trail while you were hacking stuff with that thing :D

Yeah, I want to pick one up sometime...if I ever have that kinda money floating around...:grumpy: Definitely more affordable than the AKs though... I wonder if it's more affordable than the Ruck.

Thanks for the review HD! I figured I'd preorder one since I couldn't afford the Busse AK. Not sure when it will be ready, but it'll give me something to look forward to when I return from Afghanistan.

Stay safe in Afghanistan, ROCK6. The Waki would make a good last ditch weapon over there, but only after all the bullets run out. Beats a Ka-Bar. :D

Great stuff Vic, I bet that beasts great fun to play with eh !!!!

Perfect steel for that application as well, who needs INFI !!!!!
