Looks like a perfect companion set to me. :D

Yes, satin or DC are my cup of tea!!,i even like stripped blades.
glad you guys like the pict.

The Satin and the DC are the best imo. I wish I could have gotten all of mine with that finish. I guess the coated blades serve a purpose too though.

Nice blades Marc!

Thats just one more of the great things about Busse. There is such a secondary market right here on the exchange, that you can sell/trade what you have and move in the direction you now wish to go. Satin and DC. I have done the same. I started with no clear direction and am moving to the LE's. After owning and playing with several various blades, I narrowed my preferences down to the satin. I kept a couple of my favorites and sold the rest. I have a couple of the wardens (down from 5) but mostly only have one of any particular model I own.
Another great thing is that Jerry is keeping more new ones coming than I can afford so I can choose exactly what I want at his prices. Life is good in Busseville!!!!

I have always preferred a blade finish where you are actually able to see and feel the steel itself and not some covering but there are certainly situations where a coated blade is preferable. I remember reading something by Ron Hood where he left some blades with a primitive tribe, in the Amazon maybe, not sure where. I think he left them a satin finished SHBM, a big knife from TOPS with their black coating and one other knife. Anyway, for whatever reason he returned later and noticed which knives were still being used. The
Busse was still hanging from a pole well rusted and seldom used. The TOPS with its black blade was still being utilized. I figure when you do not wish to care for or maintain your blade in a humid jungle the coating is a good idea. I'll take satin or DC anytime

I made the move to satin and black paper early in my life as a piglet. At this point, only one of the Busses I own is coated and one used to be. Everything else came from the shop naked.

Nice ones Marc! That's an impressive group you've got there. The satin thing really works :D. How do you like that HOGSJTAC LE? You've got all the bases covered now! By the way....which one's your Coconut knife? :p

Paul,i like that HOGSJTAC LE a lot,i just havent had the heart to break it in
yet,it is still virgin.for chopping coconuts i use my HHSH but just started also
using the CG FBM,that knife does pack a lot of power,it has a grey blade for now,i will strip it once the coating gets buggered up.
thanks all for the kind words

I figured that one would work great for you. It's got a totally different feel than the SJT. Completely different knife....different grind too  it's hard using them that first time. I've got a couple I'm waiting for just the right occasion with. If you want even more performance out of your FBM try having Bill Siegle re-grind it for you. It's rediculous how sharp he gets the edge and the profile is perfect as he thins it out a little. Thanks for sharing
