And I like it! :-) (Schrade lb7 made in USA) :-)

Yeah... not 7 pounds! :-) Model lb7. I too own a buck 110 and 112... and yeah, I am sure this schrade is somewhat a knockoff... but it's an American knockoff by Schrade... so I will forgive! But, chinese or pakistani knockoff, no forgive! Lol! :-)

I haven't exactly researched this scientifically, but I believe they are a tad heavier made than the Bucks.

I think you are right! :-) It may be based on the Buck 110, but it is obviously not an exact copy of it. The Schrade company serial numbered this model through a good part, if not most of it's production. That being the case, one can more or less know, within a few years, when they were made. Also, this particular specimen has 4 pins showing in the handle area, which are a bit older than ones showing 3 pins. All may be mumbo jumbo info that one not need dwell on... but that's what happens when one becomes interested in knife collecting as a hobby! LOL! :-)

Lets have a closer look. Buck 110 v Schrade LB7 Bear paw.
Fortunately I have specimens of both to compare. The results surprised me a bit.
Weighing in at 7.4oz is the Buck and at a whopping 7.9oz is the Schrade.

Side by side the Schrade is beefier than the Buck which is saying something because the 110 is a solid good knife.
Most notably to my eye are the pins which on the 110 are raised or proud and on the Schrade are flush.
I notice on yours PKJ there is a stamped serial number on the brass, mine is H529 and I'm wondering if they can be dated by this.
Anyway -there ya go.
My question is are you satisfied with your online purchasing experience?
cheers.

Nice knife. I think they have a different feel than a 110 but are of course very similar. The Camilus made version of this knife is also pretty cool.

The first lb7 that I bought was in about 1978. I used it daily until losing it in 1988. I was not flush with money at this particular point in my life and the closest knife I could find was a 7ot. This is a very good quality knife and I still carry it occasionally. I now have about 15 lb7s including several scrimshaw models and one with a drop point.

Yes, sir, I like this new addition... and yes, my online transaction went well with this purchase :-) As for the serial number... mine is H028... and I believe the date can roughly be determined on most of these knives using the serial number. Seems that can be done to within a few years. Mine is likely made between 1980 and 1983.. (yours as well) :-) Your knife, and mine, are at least 3 decades old! :-)

One thing I actually like over the Buck 110, is the fact that the rear of the blade fits flush with the frame when in the closed position. Both are nice, both are American made... I do like both :-)

Oh.. the full name of the Schrade version is Schrade Uncle Henry LB7 Bear Paw..... yeah, that is a lot of name, but it is a pretty big knife! lol! ;-)

My favorite standard lockback-style knife. The LB7 was the first real knife I acquired, through a trade with a friend in High School in 1980-81. I have one almost identical to that one now.
