its been very quiet for the past few days in here so after browsing old threads for hours i decided to bring back an old topic....

for all who are new to HI, those who have been there since the beginning & those in between... what are the top 5 blades you plan to purchase next?

mine are:
everest katana
bolo
dui chirra
gelbu special
and this one is pretty rare i guess... hisaya

i could possibly make a top 10 (who couldn't?) but i'll just post 5 for now...

so let's hear it!!!

these are always fun, i have a top five guitars, amps, headphones, now knives.

5- HI Katana
4- 18" Gelbu Special
3- Foxy Folly
2- 12" Pen
1- Kerambit

that'll prolly change in five minutes since the list didnt exist a second ago.

Here are mine, and in this order

if it was going to be top ten then here are my other choices

As you can tell by my list that quite a few are by Sher. There seems to be a bond I get with Shers that the others don't quite have (other then my Balance and BGRS, I would never part with those...).

That's quite a list there Jai. It looks like HIKV has hit you hard. While I remain in the stage of "I can quit any time I wanna...I just don't wanna". :D

yup... you're sick

i only have one, BGRS Villager by Vim Bhadur Kami. pretty much exactly what i wanted and would take my number one slot. i don't really see myself getting all of those on my list because i'm more interested in getting this guitar amp made in germany right now. maybe down the road. those kerambits, though...sexually explicit. I may cave for one of those if they keep poppin up.

yeah it hit me pretty hard... i didnt even know it till i kept on sending email after email after email and when it came time to pay.... i was like uhhhhh ohhhh :o
i will never forget the look on the face of my fiance after i told her how much i spent and what im going to spend on future planned purchases... eyes WIDE OPEN, jaw DROPPED to the floor followed by "HOW MUCH!?!?!"... she went shopping the next day with her sister :)

EDIT: FORGOT TO THANK YANGDU FOR HER EXCELLENT SERVICE AND LOVELY KHUKS!!!
MANY THANKS ALSO TO THE FORUM MEMBERS WHO ARE PASSING DOWN A FEW PIECES OF STEEL MY WAY!!!

I'm done for awhile.

All for less than $1150. :D

I have more than that invested in just my Busse AK-47 wakizashi and 2 Bark River Northwinds swords. Hard to beat HI for quality at a great price.

very nice group ted... i see a few chits and swords just as skyler stated.

hmmmmm... how about we make it a bit more interesting
on top of a list of what you want and a list of what you have...
PICS PICS PICS PICS!!! pics would be awesome of current collections.

EDIT: a belt sander would help out with those long blades :) and there has to be at least ONE khuk you desire ted... please share.

Thanks guys. I hope to get a review of the Bagh Bhairab up tomorrow if it's nice out. I should be getting in the Munk Bowie and Chainpuri tomorrow, so maybe a review there as well.

Well, you can go back to my previous post for links to pics or get them all here http://web.mac.com/tedwilson/iWeb/Khukuris/Falcata and Himalayan.html

Lots of other stuff thrown in. The kerambit was really the last one I was jonesing for. I've managed to talk myself out of the bolo, the udda sword, the crow knife, the Bhutan sword, the Yak knife(actually wanted the set, but email glitch prevented purchase)

My next purchases are a couple Valiant kopis', a damascus model and a spring steel model. I just got the Hanwai catalog in the mail today, geez, I could spend a fortune on their stuff, but then I'd be afraid to use it. Sigh.

whats next? I think Ive bought one or two of everything they make so far.
What I'd like to be next?

I think I'd like the following HI models that do not yet exist:

17 inch bone handled Uncle Bill Salyan
21 inch two handed hanshee (crescent moon sirupati)
Japanese Spear blades - jumonji and kamayari style

I agree! You've got a special handle on that one Skyler.

Norm

That handle is even more stunning in person. Currently I am giving it a tru-oil treatment. It's on the fourth coat now and the details are really popping out. I will put up a picture in the Foxy Folly Review thread when I get done.

Ted - That Falcata gets better looking every time I see it. Wonderful pics.

EDIT: a belt sander would help out with those long blades :) and there has to be at least ONE khuk you desire ted... please share.

Actually, all of them are pretty sharp except the katana and the kobra. Most of the others are villagers and they almost always come SHARP. One of the reasons I insisted on a villager falcata.

Ted, really dig that little r-knife. sweet piece.

sidenote- seein a glock in a leather paddle holster is like seein a horse drawn carriage with xm satellite radio, heated leather seats, and dual climate zones. not sayin there's anything wrong with it, though, that sounds like quite a pleasant carriage ride.
