I recieved my new G-10 comboedge meadowlark yesterday and couldn't be more satisfied. I only paid $21.00 or so for this knife and think it's worth at least three times that much. The fit and finish are as good (or maybe better ) than most of the higher end production knives out there. Also, this knife is SHARP, right out of the box. At first I wasn't expecting much for $20 and was just going to use this as a beater type knife for my auto tech classes and work. However ,the G-10 model is just so darn nice I ordered a slightly cheaper comboedge FRN model for my EDC so I can stash the G-10 one in my collection. I have been eyeing up the smaller robin? model, and also think the plainedge stainless handle meadowlark is growing on me.
For anyone who hasn't tried out the Byrd line of cutlery I suggest you do so. I'm pretty sure you'll get a LOT more than you expect from these knives. Actually ,for the asking price, you shouldn't have a reason not to try one out.
Thanks for reading...

Byrd knives are by far the nicest knives for the money in the world. I love my G10 Cara Cara, it's now my EDC. I choose it over all of my other knives in my large collection, all of which cost many times more. Byrd's are amazingly good for how much they cost.

so if they can put g10 on these and the 40$ native does anyone know if there are plans to replace the frn on some of the other models???

yeah i`d like a fully serrated byrd . you could call it a byrdedge instead of a spyderedge , or something

I picked up a Meadowlark at SFO today. Amazing knife for the money! Only thing keeping it out of my pocket this evening is the Delica 4 Wave I picked up at the same time.

Soooo, if you buy one of these and it's got problems does that make it a Meadowlark lemon? (Old Fart Joke).

I love these knives. The Meadowlark fits my hand better than th eDelica, which I traded off due to iffy ergos. I always wanted a G10 Delica or Endura, so this comes close enough. I like finger choils, so that's another advantadge. Steel backspacer too, and a styling look to it with all the cutouts. It looks very nice, cuts well and is very comfortable. I'm so impressed with them I'm trading off my paramilitary for a bunch of Cara Cara's.

I was comparing my G10 Cara Cara to my Endura 4 last night and I think the Cara Cara is the better knife, hands down. Side by side, the knives are very similar. I think the Cara Cara must be the Byrd Endura equivalent, the Meadowlark is the equivalent of a Delica.

Besides the obvious difference in handle material, there are a few differences between the Endura and the Cara Cara that make the Cara Cara the better knife IMO. First, the finger choil adds grip and adds a degree of safety when closing the blade (if you keep your finger in the choil, it wont get cut when the blade closes). Second, the lock is higher up the handle, and the Boyle dent is higher up on the lock as well, which means if you shift your grip slightly, you can compress the lock and flip the blade out like you can with a compression lock. (Easier than with a compression lock for my hand.)

I have had no problems whatsoever with the blade steel so far, so I think the steel quality difference is basically a non-issue.

I'm ordering a G10 Meadowlark so I can compare it to my Delicas and see which I like better. I think I already know which one it will be. I hope they release the Flight with G10 and maybe the Crossbill or Pelican as well. Can't wait for the fixed blade.
