Six months ago I was happy to hear that Cabella's would be opening a new store in Greenwood, IN, just south of Indianapolis. :D
Hooray! Hooray! :) There are no Cabella's in Indiana at this time. :grumpy: Big news in the local paper! Huge development site with other retail/hotel/etc to follow.:thumbup:

However........

Last nite's local news reported that Cabella's was delaying the new store for at least a year if not two!! :grumpy::thumbdn: Citing the economy going down the drain, and weak retail sales for 2007, Cabella's is retreating on opening new stores in 2008 to just 4! nationwide!!

Guess I will just have to drive to Michigan.:(

What does this have to do with Buck knives? I am sure you all know the answer to this question.

I have been to their website a heckuva lot more than their store ;)

We were getting one 40 miles north of Atlanta by the end of this year, but it was put on hold. I saw them when I went to Mitchell, SD and was impressed. During that trip out West I went to two more, one was their main strore. I bought quite a few Bucks, one Brian Yellowhorse in their Bargain section.

Bass Pro was set to build a giant store/rec center on the Buffalo waterfront...the local green-Nazis got a wild hair up their butthole at that...it's been on hold for a year+ now...lawsuit, environmental impact statement, etc...

Somebody actually wants to bring a business *into* Buffalo and they're against it... :jerkit:

...And lemme tell you about Niagara Falls...Main Street is blocks and blocks of plywood-covered shops...everything is gone...even the bums left for Fort Erie... :(

Guess I'm the lucky one. They completed a Cabelas Just outside of Reno, NV. It opened at the end of November....still have not made that (180 mile) 3.5 hour drive to get there. Bass Pro Shop is building a new shop about 1-1.5 hours drive from me....and they have a better Buck knife selection....But, way over priced :(.

Our new store slated for Walker was put on hold as well. It was reported that Cabelas was slowing down a lot of there new stores due to the national economy. They hope to build our's in '09....ready in '10. Guess I'll just have to wait :(

I got a 'valued customer' 'limited edition' hardback Cabela's catalog - with thumb dividers - Spring '08 - in a box in today's mail. Hey, if I am so valuable, how about some discount coupons?? That mailing had to be expensive.

We haves some property 'Bass Pro' broke ground on in Leeds, AL - not far - two years ago - still nothing.
