I went to the local shop to get my first serious knife this evening. I was looking at a Delica, but I noticed they had a Calypso Jr. w/ZDP steel for $64; which I now own.

After doing further research on this forum, I think I made a great choice :) I actually like the burgundy color of the handle. The blade seems pretty darn sharp, but I don't really have anything to compare it to.

You have made a great buy. There are not very many knives any sharper than that one. Kevin

That is a fantastic buy!!! There are very few production knives that are sharper than the Caly, Jr. I too like the burgundy handle and the black clip for that matter!

and i dont care what anybody says about the color...the burgundy w/gold spyder is a very attractive package

If I didn't have such a fierce loyalty to my Para Military, then my Caly Jr. ZDP would be my favorite knife. I love the burgundy color, and the knife is so small and ergonomic and light, but the little devil cuts like a light saber:eek:

That's a damn good price for a brick & mortar local store! You're lucky to have a place where you can both handle something before buying and not pay an extra 30-40% for the privilege.

And it's a great knife.:)

I think you made an excellent choice! The ZDP Caly is one of Spyderco's best, and IMHO a far superior design to the Delica. Hope you enjoy it (and other spyders;) ) for many years to come!
