Hello!!!! I finally gotten around to making my first Camp Knife and thought I would share some progress pictures here. The steel is A2 and the overall length is 13.25" with an 8" blade.
Here is the knife after profiling and ready for heat treat. I really love the feel of this knife in hand!
I tapered the tang to make her a little front heavy for chopping and to lighten the knife overall.
I choose some exceptional Desert Ironwood scales for the handle because I wanted #1 extra special. Next I will finish grind the blade and hand rub the flats. Can't wait to finish this one!
I work a little on the blade of the Camp Knife today. I handrubbed the flats and rough ground the bevels post heat treat. Next I will finish grind the bevels and smooth everything out. Things will slow down from here on out!
