Greetings Guys and Girls,

I have joined the ranks of 'those who carry rats'. I bought a camp tramp from another BF member.

Got a chance to put the camp tramp through the paces when I went camping with it over the Labor day weekend. As expected, my friends gave me a funny looks and chided me for carrying such a large knife. To which I responded "You didn't see the bigger one".

Anyhow, after seeing the image of the camp tramp that downed a tree, I tried to do something similar. I chopped a 9" diameter log into usable lengths for fire wood. The chopping was very effective, especially considering the size and weight of the blade.

I rolled/damaged the edge on the apex of the belly. Must have hit a knot or something. I have since refinished the edge with diamond rods on my spyderco 204 and it is good as new.

The sheath has some damage now from rubbing against my pants. I think it is time to get a concealex/kydex rig of some sort. The big pocket on the front is invaluable.

The handle is a bit small to be comfortable. However, the shock absorbancy of the rubber material has justified the choice of material. Wonder if would it be possible make a larger handle profile, especially towards the butt?

I am taking the camp tramp ocean fishing in two weeks. I expect the coating and rubber handle to remain unaffected by the sea air. However, I expect the edge to rust like crazy.

Sundsvall,
Sounds like you gave the CT a good workout. I agree with you on the Shock absorption of the Resiprene C handles, it is very effective.

Looking forward to hearing how it does while you're ocean fishing. :D:D
