New Can Mosaic

I have had some stainless tubing laying around the shop for years (which I had used for thong hole tubing) and since I don't do many thong holes much anymore, I decided to see how it would work in a can mosaic. Being 304 stainless, I wasn't sure how it would weld but it seemed to work just fine (w/1084 powder). It definately gave me something different for a pattern. As you can tell, I did an accordian cut on the billet wanting to get the mirror effect on the pattern.

It has a 7" blade & 11 1/2" OAL. The handle is ironwood with all the fittings being from the blade steel (except for the pommel nut which is 416).

This is probably a pattern that most will either love or hate :).

Let me know your thoughts.

I like it Gary. Definitely interesting and different. Neat knife. Thumbs up here.

Hey Gary, that is a neat effect. I like it when people think outside the box. I wonder what that same pattern would look like if you twisted up the billet.

Thanks, everyone. Glad that you liked it. Doing something new or different is always a lot of fun.

Thanks for the close up Gary and that is pretty cool. I like to see what other guys come up with when they start experimenting. Did you use a different steel inside the tube? It looks darker to me than what is around the tube.

I have used different powders in the past but on this one the powder was all some of Kelly's 1084. Any difference in appearance is simply in the photography. (I super glued the tubes to one end cap of the can and filled all of the rest with the same powder.)

Glad you liked it.
