New carbine from Ruger, looks like fun!

It does look interesting. I think if I was going the route of a 357 carbine I'd still go with a lever gun though. Ruger has been doing some cool stuff lately with their 1911, their scout rifle, and this. I'll be interested to see what else they come up with in the near future.

Looks interesting but with no left-handed models and only five shots I'd just as soon have the Marlin lever.

Do you get better velocity shooting the .357 out of a rifle? I guess I so used to using it for duty carry ammo/self-defense I don't really think about hunting with it. Would it make a decent varmint round? To what range?

Wade, most pistol cartridges fired from a rifle will give 200 fps more muzzle velocity, if not more, over a 6 to 7-1/2" bbl revolver. With a decent bullet, it becomes a 150 yd. deer rifle.

pistol caliber cartridge in a bolt gun makes zero sense to me. Lever gun, ok, but a bolt?

You just have to learn to shoot properly:D
