i just received a green g-10 Carnivore. (Thanks again Excalibur!). Right off the bat I noticed the new dual thumb studs. I like them alot better than the older ones. They are also more rounded and seem more comfortable to me. If I could only get some for my 1st generation Carnivore. The action wasnt as gritty as my previous Carnivore, but the blade rubs the liner a little bit. Needless to say I took it apart. The spring is shorter than my other Carnivores and it is glued in place! I didn't have to look for it like I previously had to because it didn't fly away! Anyway I quickly put it back together and adjusted the pivot. The blade doesn't rub now and the knife is still smoother than my previous Carnivore when it was NIB. (Still no where near as smooth as my Crawford.) It seems as though REKAT has made some refinements of the design. Now, can I get a dual thumstud?

Glad you liked it Dennis! Sorry about the blade rub... to tell the truth I didn't even open it. I picked it up for ya, and just opened the tube to make sure it was the right Carnivore, and hurried to the P.O. with it.
Glad you fixed the problem with little effort. There are alot of generic dual thumb studs out there that should work.

Thanks again Mark. I wouldn't have one for my collection if it werent for you. You definately went above and beyond and I certainly wouldn't expect you to inspect it first. It wasn't very bad and easily fixed. I am a bit of a perfectionist. I will try and locate some generic dual thumbstuds. I even considered using the ones on an old cold steel voyager.

Dennis,

I'll rumage around thru my junk and see if I can find some studs that work. They are here on the workbench somewhere. If I find the "needle in the haystack"... I'll mail ya one.
