Decided to try out a smaller "gentlemanly" spyder, so I brought a Chaparral on my order with seven Honeybee's. Yeah, I know, who needs 7 tiny slippits? Well I make them into tie clips for friends and family. They've been a big hit, so I'll have to take pics of them sometime.
Anyway, the Chaparral is mostly what I was hoping for. Love the g10/cf look, fit and finish is amazing as usual, and it's rock dead centered with solid lockup. The only thing I don't like is that the spring is very tight for such a small knife. I've worked it some to make it a tad easier to open, but requires quite a bit of hand/finger strength (on sharp edges) to close. Doesn't make it a no-go, because I still think it's amazing. It really does look amazing, and came as sharp as I would hope.
Most other brands I buy end up right on the KME to get the edge up to my standards of sharp. Eventually every knife gets sharpened because I have a special frosty jeweled edge effect that I like and has become my trademark for friends and family that I sharpen for. But I do like to get a little use out of a blade right out of the box before I start grinding on it.
So without any more rambling....here's a pic or two.
